Management training workshop in progress

Management Training that changes how your team actually works

We run short, practical programs for first-time managers and experienced leaders across Australia. No theory overload. Participants leave with habits they can use the following Monday morning.

What we offer

Every program is designed around real workplace problems, not textbook scenarios. Here is a quick look at our three core streams.

New manager foundations

A two-day intensive for people who have just stepped into a management role, or will do so within the next six months. We cover delegation, one-on-one meeting structure, giving corrective feedback without eroding trust, and reading a P&L at a level that lets you talk to finance without guessing. Groups are capped at twelve so each person gets individual coaching time.

Senior leadership intensives

For managers who already lead other managers. These three-day sessions focus on strategic planning, cross-department alignment and succession planning. We work through your organisation's actual data and org chart, not a fictional case study. Past participants have included operations directors, regional heads and chief-of-staff roles in both government and private sectors.

Ongoing coaching retainers

Monthly 90-minute coaching calls with one of our facilitators, paired with a private Slack channel for quick questions between sessions. This is for managers who have completed a workshop and want continued accountability. Retainers run in six-month blocks and include a mid-point 360-degree feedback review we administer on your behalf.

Our approach

Most management courses dump a lot of slides on people and hope something sticks. Ours don't work that way. Each session begins with a live scenario drawn from the group's own workplace challenges. Participants practise conversations, make decisions under time pressure and debrief together.

We record short video replays of role-play exercises so managers can watch themselves back. It's uncomfortable the first time, and extremely useful.

After the workshop, every participant receives a 12-week follow-up plan with weekly micro-tasks: things like "run your next one-on-one using this template and note what changed." Completion rates sit around 78%, which is high for post-training activities, because the tasks are specific and take under fifteen minutes.

NextGen Manage Training was founded in 2019 by two former operations managers who spent a decade inside large organisations and got frustrated with training that felt disconnected from daily work. We are based in Tasmania and deliver programs across Australia, both in person and via video.

What participants say

We ask every cohort to fill out an anonymous feedback form four weeks after the program ends. Here are three unedited responses from recent groups.

"I'd been managing a team of nine for two years and still dreaded giving feedback. The role-play exercise where we practised redirecting a defensive employee gave me a script I've now used at least five times. My skip-level reviews have improved noticeably."

— Priya S., team lead at a Hobart logistics firm

"The financial literacy module was a surprise highlight. I can finally read our monthly cost report and ask useful questions in budget meetings instead of nodding along. That alone was worth the two days."

— Marcus W., newly promoted project manager, Launceston

"I signed up for the coaching retainer after the intensive. Having someone outside my company to pressure-test decisions with has been genuinely helpful. The 360 feedback report surfaced things my direct reports wouldn't have told me to my face."

— Danielle K., operations director, Melbourne
