Management Training FAQ

Answers to the questions we hear most often from HR managers, team leads and business owners considering our programs.

Common questions about our programs

New manager foundations workshops are capped at 12 participants. We find that beyond 12, facilitators can't give meaningful individual feedback during role-play exercises. Senior leadership intensives are smaller still, typically 6 to 10 people, because the discussions involve sensitive organisational data and need more airtime per person.

If you have a larger cohort, we run back-to-back sessions rather than inflating group size. Two groups of 10 learn more than one group of 20.

Yes. About 40% of our workshops in the past year took place on the mainland. We have delivered in-person programs in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth. Travel and accommodation costs for the facilitator are included in the quoted price for Australian capital cities. Regional locations may attract a small surcharge depending on travel logistics.

We also run live video sessions using Zoom for distributed teams. These follow the same curriculum but are split into shorter half-day blocks across four days instead of two full days, which reduces screen fatigue.

Day one runs from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm. The morning covers delegation frameworks and a live exercise where each participant delegates a real task from their current workload to a partner, who then asks clarifying questions. After lunch we move into feedback conversations: how to give corrective feedback, how to receive it, and how to follow up without micro-managing.

Day two starts at 9:00 am and finishes at 3:30 pm. The morning is devoted to running effective one-on-ones and team meetings. Participants draft their own one-on-one template and test it in a simulated meeting. The afternoon covers basic financial literacy for managers: reading a P&L, understanding cost centres, and asking useful budget questions. We wrap up with individual action plans and pair each person with an accountability partner from the group.

Pricing depends on the program, group size and location. As a rough guide: the two-day new manager foundations workshop costs between $1,800 and $2,400 per participant (plus GST) for a group of 8 to 12. Smaller groups have a higher per-head cost because the facilitator fee is fixed.

Senior leadership intensives run at $3,200 to $4,000 per participant for three days. Coaching retainers are $950 per month for six months, billed monthly in advance.

We provide a detailed quote within two business days of your enquiry. All prices include materials, the 12-week follow-up plan, and the post-program feedback report.

Cancel more than 14 days before the program start date and you receive a full refund. Cancellations within 14 days incur a 50% fee, because by that point we have confirmed the venue, prepared customised materials and blocked the facilitator's calendar. No-shows are charged in full.

You can substitute a different participant at no charge up to 48 hours before the start date. Just email us the replacement person's name and role.

Yes, and we encourage it. Before every engagement we run a 45-minute scoping call with the sponsor (usually an HR manager or department head) to understand the team's specific challenges. If your managers struggle with shift-based rostering, for example, we swap the generic delegation exercise for one built around rostering scenarios. If the group works in government, we adjust the financial module to cover appropriations and budget estimates rather than commercial P&Ls.

Customisation is included in the standard fee for adjustments that take less than four hours of preparation. Larger changes, such as building an entirely new module, are quoted separately.

Our two lead facilitators each have more than ten years of line-management experience in operations and project delivery before they moved into training. One spent eight years at a national logistics company managing warehouse teams of 30 to 80 people. The other led technology projects in state government, managing cross-functional teams and reporting to a deputy secretary.

Both hold Graduate Certificates in Adult Education and are accredited coaches through the International Coaching Federation. We occasionally bring in guest facilitators for specialist topics like employment law or mental health first aid; those guests are always practising professionals in their field, not generalist trainers.

Each participant leaves with a 12-week follow-up plan. It contains one micro-task per week: things like running a one-on-one with a new template, giving one piece of specific positive feedback, or reviewing a budget line item and asking a question about it. Tasks take under 15 minutes. We send a weekly email reminder with the task and a short tip.

At the end of 12 weeks, we send the sponsoring organisation a summary report showing completion rates and anonymised participant reflections. If you want ongoing support beyond that, the coaching retainer is the natural next step.

Delivery formats

In-person workshops at your office or a venue we arrange. Live video sessions via Zoom for remote teams. Hybrid options where some participants attend in person and others join by video are possible but work best when at least half the group is in the room.

Industries we have worked with

Logistics and warehousing, state and local government, healthcare administration, professional services (accounting and legal firms), retail head-office teams, and not-for-profit organisations. The core skills are transferable; the scenarios and examples are tailored.

Typical lead time

From initial enquiry to workshop delivery is usually four to six weeks. That includes the scoping call, proposal, material customisation and scheduling. Shorter timelines are possible if the group is small and dates are flexible.

Accessibility

All materials are available in digital format. We provide printed handouts on request. If a participant has specific accessibility needs, let us know during the scoping call and we will adjust the session format, venue requirements or materials accordingly.
